Live-in Support

Continuity, companionship and reassurance at home.

For someone who would benefit from having consistent support around them, live-in support can provide companionship, reassurance and practical help while allowing them to remain in the place they know best — their own home.

Every arrangement is different, so we start by understanding the person, their routines, their interests and the level of support that would genuinely make everyday life easier.

From there, we can help create an arrangement built around the individual rather than asking them to fit into a standard package.

Personal from the start

Who might benefit from live-in support?

Live-in support may be worth considering when someone would feel happier or more confident knowing there is another person consistently around at home.

It may suit someone who values companionship, needs more regular practical support than occasional visits can provide, or whose family would appreciate the reassurance of a more continuous arrangement.

Everyday life

Everyday support, built around the individual

Every arrangement is different. We’ll talk through what would be helpful and agree the practical details together.

  • Companionship and conversation
  • Help with everyday routines
  • Preparing meals
  • Shopping and errands
  • Getting out and about
  • Attending appointments
  • Shared interests and activities
  • Reassurance and a regular presence at home
  • Help maintaining independence and familiar routines

The right match matters

Inviting someone to share your home is personal.

That is why we take time to understand personality, interests, routines and preferences as well as the practical support required.

The aim is not simply to place someone in the home. It is to find an arrangement where people feel comfortable together and where genuine trust and companionship have the opportunity to develop.

Helping life at home continue

Live-in support should help someone retain as much independence, choice and normality as possible.

Familiar surroundings, familiar routines and the ability to make everyday decisions can all matter enormously.

The companion is there to support the person’s life — not take control of it.

Reassurance for families

For families, knowing that someone trusted is regularly present can bring significant reassurance.

It also provides continuity — someone who gets to know the person, understands their routines and recognises what is normal for them.

Carefully checked, carefully matched

Before we introduce a live-in companion, Almost Family verifies identity and right-to-work status, and checks Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references, alongside relevant experience, training and suitability.

Live-in companions are self-employed and contract directly with clients, but we take care to make sure the people we introduce meet our agreed vetting and suitability standards.

A straightforward conversation

How it works

01

We talk

You tell us about the person, their circumstances and what support you think might help.

02

We get to know what matters

We look at routines, personality, interests, preferences and the practical requirements of the arrangement.

03

We find the right fit

We use that understanding to help identify an appropriate live-in companion and arrangement.

04

We agree everything clearly

The support arrangement and cost are explained and agreed before anything begins.

Almost Family introduces clients to independent live-in carers, who contract directly with their clients. We explain how the arrangement works before support begins.
